Terms & conditions
The rules for using this website, buying through our affiliate links, and buying directly from our shop, including your right to cancel and return.
1. About these terms
This website, 72hoursout.co.uk, is run by 72 Hours Out (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using the website you agree to these terms. If you buy anything directly from our shop, sections 5 to 9 also apply. Please read them before you order. You can contact us at privacy@72hoursout.co.uk. Our business address is shown at checkout and in our order confirmation emails.
2. Information on this website
Our articles, checklists and videos are general information to help households prepare for emergencies. They are not professional, medical, legal or financial advice, and they are not a substitute for official guidance. In an emergency, always follow instructions from the emergency services, your local council and the UK Government (gov.uk/prepare). We work hard to keep information accurate and up to date, but we can’t guarantee it is complete or current.
3. Affiliate links and products bought elsewhere
Some links on this site are affiliate links, including links to Amazon. If you buy through them, your contract is with Amazon or the relevant seller, not with us. Their terms, prices, delivery, returns and customer service apply. See our affiliate disclosure for details. Always read the manufacturer’s instructions and safety information before using any product.
4. Comments and acceptable use
Comments are moderated before they appear. Please keep them relevant, respectful and lawful. We may edit, refuse or remove any comment, for example if it is abusive, misleading, spam, promotes dangerous activity or includes someone else’s personal information. You must not misuse the website, for example by trying to hack it or introduce malicious code.
5. Buying from our shop
- Who can order: you must be 18 or over, and we only deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom.
- Prices: all prices are in pounds sterling (£) and include VAT where it applies. Delivery charges are shown at checkout before you pay. If we make an obvious pricing error, we will contact you before accepting your order.
- Your order: after you order, we will email to confirm we’ve received it. The contract between us is formed when we email to confirm your order has been dispatched. If we can’t accept your order, we will tell you and won’t charge you, or will refund you in full.
- Payment: payments are processed securely by our payment provider. We never see or store your full card details.
6. Delivery
We deliver to UK addresses only. Estimated delivery times are shown at checkout. Unless we agree otherwise, we will deliver within 30 days of accepting your order. If there’s a delay, we will let you know. The goods are your responsibility once they are delivered to you, or to someone you’ve nominated.
7. Your right to cancel (14 days)
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you can change your mind and cancel your order for any reason within 14 days of the day you receive your goods. To cancel, email us at privacy@72hoursout.co.uk with your order number, or use the model cancellation form. You then have a further 14 days to send the goods back.
- We will refund the price you paid, including the standard delivery charge, within 14 days of receiving the goods back or of you providing proof that you’ve sent them, whichever is sooner.
- Unless the goods are faulty or not as described, you pay the cost of returning them.
- We may reduce your refund if the goods have been handled more than is needed to check them, as you would in a shop.
- The right to cancel doesn’t apply to sealed goods that aren’t suitable for return for health or hygiene reasons once unsealed (for example opened food, medical or first aid consumables), or to goods made to your specification.
8. Faulty or incorrect goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If they aren’t, you can reject them for a full refund within 30 days of delivery. After that, you’re entitled to a repair or replacement, and if that doesn’t work, a refund or price reduction. We pay reasonable return costs for faulty goods. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.
9. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We don’t exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for breaching your legal rights as a consumer. We only supply products for domestic and private use, and we are not liable for business losses. We are not responsible for products bought from other sellers through affiliate links.
10. Intellectual property
The content on this website, including text, graphics, logos and videos, belongs to 72 Hours Out or our licensors. You’re welcome to share links and print pages for your own personal use, but please don’t copy or republish our content without permission.
11. Privacy
We handle your personal data as described in our privacy policy.
12. Changes and the law
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms in force when you place an order apply to that order. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts where you live.
